The male basketball players of Cam High have been league Champions in 1972, ’74, ’75, ’76, ’82, ’83, ’89, ’90, ‘07. Throughout the last two decades Coach Prewitt has guided the school to victory time and time again.    “[He] takes pride in all his players’ abilities and inabilities on and off the court and he uses everyone’s uniqueness to maximize their playing experience,” Said Varsity player Dylan Zayonc. Coach Prewitt is regarded among his players as “encouraging, disciplined, and caring,” according to Jeff Matthews, team captain.   After 20 years of coaching, Prewitt is stepping down as the head basketball coach. He has been very respected by his players, such as Jeremy Sander, who says, “every word of advice has stuck with me over my two years of playing under him, not one practice went to waste with coach Prewitt.” Another player, Fernando Castro, said, “I’ve never been around a person so willing to help people, he’s extraordinary beyond all means.”   Coach Prewitt’s favorite part of coaching has been “all the talented and hard-working athletes I’ve had the chance to work with.” His athletes regard him with similar reverence, Matt Kitikawa, Team Captain, described him as “the main reason I strived and pushed so hard to become the best basketball player I could possibly be for the three years I was able to play under him, I’m truly thankful for what he’s done for my character as an athlete and overall as a human being.”   Fellow coaches such as Coach Perez respect Coach Prewitt as well, “I’ve coached on all levels of athletics, high school, college, even two years in the NFL and Prewitt's discipline of athletics is the best I’ve worked with. He’s also got to have the biggest heart I’ve ever been around. His heart and dedication has pushed players to “play my best even when we were against the odds,” said Jeremy Sander.    Coach Prewitt will still be a PE teacher, but he will be “sorely missed as a basketball coach, he went the extra mile each and every day when we all needed that extra push,” remarked Ryan Petit. Jeremy Sander said “what he did for the team and what he did for his athletes will stick with us forever, he’s basically my second father and he’s been a great coach.”
